THE LATEST FROM THE GLOBAL CHEESE AWARDS
The committee member who packs a punch
I've worked in the packaging industry for more than three decades. I joined Sealed Air as an engineer in 1981, left for a while and worked in sales elsewhere before returning in 1993 to join the Sealed Air Ltd sales team with responsibility for cheese customers in the south west. My job has also involved working with other protein food producers on their packaging needs.
My seven years away from Sealed Air were with a company called Flexpack, who were based in Bury, Lancashire, but I carried on working from my home in Bristol - I'm very attached to the south west. I was born in the city and have, in fact, never lived anywhere else. In my younger years I was an urban guy and today I love the place due to the fact that it is a great springboard for visiting other parts of the south west, which is such a lovely part of the world.
With retirement on the horizon, I joined the GCA cheese committee early this year and I am pleased to say we have lots of exciting things in store for all sectors of the industry.
I have always enjoyed the Frome Cheese Show. I started attending many years ago with Sealed Air's tradestand, and found the show was a wonderful place to 'network' and meet potential customers as well as old friends. I attended the Global Cheese Awards last year and loved it - especially the dinner in the evening, which this year will be preceded by a canape reception, so even more to look forward to this time.
I look forward to welcoming you to the Global Cheese Awards 2016.
